Have you ever wondered

Have you ever wondered what lives 400+ feet down in the ocean? Well for starters the Humboldt squid are making a run up and down the coast of Newport Beach, Ca eating anything that gets in the way. Their size ranges from 10lbs to 50+lbs.. The squid in the 20lb-40lb range are common for this area. They travel in schools of up to 1,500 squid and eat anything that moves.

I hope thats all they do, but I know I dont want to be in my tube when they are on the hunter.

O man would love to catch a squid from the tube!! Might have to start fishin deeper water.

I was on a charter out of San Fransisco near the Farallon Islands when a bunch of those Humbolt squid came through . The deckhand cut everyones line and passed out squid jigs. The next 20 minutes was nothing short of fantastic. We averaged 8 squid per rod. As were not classified as sportfish we got to keep them all. Surprising how many others gave me theirs as they werent educated on the finer dining on Calamari !!! The Foodsaver vacuum packers had just come out and I bought a bigger freezer when I got home and hoisted a Calamari feed as well .... YUM !!!

Dont get on a cattle boat for anything but thoughs they eat everything or run the others out fish counts will be low

Squid coming? Kill 'em all, cut 'em up and use 'em for bait!!!

that was the time I was fishing non stop and didn't even have time to shave my head,..

I been wanting to go squiding next time they come through since I have never been. Squid jigs always sell out when they are running so I picked up 12 of them in different sizes when Dick's cleared out their tackle sections. I hear if you catch a squid and don't reel fast enough the others will devour it on the way up.
