I feel the need to explore the vast and extensive world of knot tying once again. So, with that in mind I am currently looking at various loop knots and their applications. So what is your choice of loop knot or do you even use one? So far with my bad eyes and huge thumbs I have found the "king's sling" to be easy to tie quickly.

Any thoughts boyz? study

Hey you go..take a look here:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

But like I told you on the water...San Diego jam. Fast, easy and strong knot to tie. Just don't pull it tight...it will leave a loop but when a fish hits it will tighten and not break [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I do thins when I fish live bait and don't want to buy ringed hooks.

@ Mr Canada...OK I see how it is...gonna play that game with me eh???? Hmmmm... we'll just have to see in the future as we are in the same series and all the fishing we do in between will tell the tale no eh? So...yah...don't be a hoser eh...oh and I won't say anything about why you only use spinning gear. Ya, ya...catching fish is catching fish...save me the rebuttal. Take off eh...

San Diego jam knot? Maybe if you are tuna fishing? That's overkill in most situations. I've never had any issues with the tried and true Palomar or improved clinch.

Well maybe we need to define what a loop knot is? Cuz...none of these ya'll be talkin bout are a loop knot...you know, a knot that ends up being a loop on the end sos the bait has more action or freedom to move? Oh well, like I said this wasn't a cry for help just trying to make conversation.

Enjoy

Nice site Leaky, all that stop go animation had me waiting for Gumby and Pokey to go running by in the back ground with Blockheads chasing them lol.

I've only been using the Palomar and Improved Clinch but with my line wrapping around the lure or hook eye twice instead of once. So far I have only had maybe 2-3 knots break on me and I think that was because I didn't wet it when I pulled it tight and may have stressed the line.

LOL...I will show you what I was talking about. If you use the SD jam and don't chinch it down it can be used as a loop to give you bait more action. Once you get a strike the knot will tighten.

LOL... I use the SD jam knot for pretty much everything. It is a fast and easy knot to tie.

I know what you mean and I am going to have to try that out. I never thought of not cinching the knot down and leaving the loop and fish it that way. Interesting approach.

do you use mono backing? and fluor topshot?

What about the improved Alberto? that seems pretty low-profile?
