Who Ties Fly's?

Does anyone tie flies? If so, or you want to learn, lets hear from you. It's not that hard, you can get the equipment used pretty cheap and there is nothing and I say nothing brothers and sisters like catching a fish on a fly you tied yourself

Eh..hem...Uh yes I uh would enjoy tying some flys. I have some slight experience with it but huge emphasis on the "slight". Would like to get into it but it just seems expensive to a degree.

I tie am a novice it can be expensive but you can also keep it simple. Some of my best fly's came from supplies around the house. The black widow, is some red yarn I stole from the wife, black foam pipe insulation that was just setting around, and leg made from the Brussels of a vacuum brush attachment. Waxon this may be just down your ally you get to use that gray matter between your ears bro.

I am barely learning swomething new and i turn around and wax is doing something different
but i dont know anything about fly fishing also i want to learn alil bit about the lures like i said i use live bait most my life
but wax is a good teacher and i do learn alot of stuff from him

Streamers and bait fish patterns are cheap. The way we used to do it in Washington was that 3 or 4 of us would split the cost for materials to tie a pattern or two. Then we would all tie that pattern. For 40 bucks split 4 ways you end up getting 10 to 15 flies each. Thats less than a buck a piece.

99 cent store has more stuff for streamers than you can think of. And they have SPANDEX!!!!

For me streamers are best for my style of fly fishing. Being in a tube boat I do not need to cast the fly to far. I place my fly down into a little opening in the weeds and pull the fly along the top portion of the weeds. I have also caught lots of other fish on them.

If I am targeting pan fish I really enjoy poppers. My first pick of popper would be the deer hair kind. Second the hard foam poppers.

It is just as fun making them, and gives me something to do in the winter.

I swat flys no but really would like to learn to tie but should try flyfishing first.

Well I was told I Can Just Cast these Fly out Into The Salt and reel them Catch A big Giant Fish Bigger Than you Ever Seen

Those were great fly Dano good job on them I am looking forward to seeing what you catch with those bad boys. You have me wanting to break out my fly gear for the salt.

Tyed up 12 new flies this morning in preperation of the big Sunday outing. Will post some pics later.

Love those MIDS. I have been fly tying for over 30 years now, but feels like yesterday at times. Just got back from the fly tying expo in Idah Falls. What a blast.

I am playing with a new tie. "Boobie Chironomid" It doesn't float up but it does hover, very cool effect

Lately, Ive been doing alot of flies inspired by the ancient Northern English, Yorkshire-style soft hackle patterns, aka, "spiders."
