I'm fishing in my first ever bass tournament Saturday. It is a mini boat and tube club here in OK. Never fished competitively before and I see on here some of you have. Any tips? (Other than catch bigger fish than everyone else)

Prefishing always helps and stick with your confidence baits. Tournaments are not a good place to try out new baits and techniques.

Is it every man for their own or are there teams? If teams, throw different baits from what your partner is throwing so you can find the pattern a little faster.

Don't forget to just have fun stressing out because your fishing in a tournament and have no fish in the live well can ruin you

It's every person on their own. On a lake I haven't fished in years. The water will be in the low 50's so there should be some pre-spawn action. If I can get 5 fish to weigh-in I will be feeling good. Good point about sticking with what I know Lolly. Chomp, you're right about having fun. I'm trying to take it as just a day on the lake. No worries!

Oh yeah I forgot that part LOL. Don't forget to have fun! Being that it's your first event I wouldn't stress too much on the actual "fish catching" since everything else can be plenty stressful. Just go and get the hang of how everything works and how they run the show. Use it as a learning experience so you can be that much more comfortable the next time around. You'll get the hang of it with time and you never know, you might get that lunker that puts you on top! As long as you're having fun, everything else is a bonus.

During cold days like this, if you're doing freshwater pro-bass fishing, prefishing is a given, but also, make sure you have some ice jigs to entice the finicky fish, especially with the full moon and high wind for the past days. Fish with slow retrieval on any kind of bait. An array of plastics and attractants will help tremendously.
