My buddy and I are going to be making our first trip out in our tubes in a week to the sierras. Planning on fishing convict, Mamie and Mary. Does anyone have any insight or preferences on lakes to tube from up there? Any help would be appreciated

Thank you. I've fished the sierras for years but this is my first time using a tube. Spent the last week reading this forum and have learned a lot already.

Fishslayer thank you. Will check that out. Morning or afternoon? Or does it matter?

if you're not fly fishing it shouldn't matter. I've also had some great days down on Starkweather and Sotcher...

Convict is all about fly fishing. However, spinning real, clear bobber, flies on a 48" flouro leader will yield plenty of fun.

Mamie Lake is excellent float tubing. Make sure to bring your wader with you, since the water maybe still in the chilly. Small lake. Fishing pressure is pretty minimal at this time of the year. It gets bad around July to September, when all hell breaks loose during summer activities. You can practically comb this whole lake, or rather a large pond, within a few hours.

Lake Mary is a great spot to float tube. Just be careful of all the crazy watercrafts out there. Wear very very bright colored clothing. The activities there are as bad as Lake Perris during warm days. Best time to hit the lake is during weekdays. Minimal activity, and plenty of sanity. Covering this lake alone will take a few days. Make sure to bring your fishfinder with you. Schools move like crazy due to disturbances.

The bottom of the waterfall at Twin Lakes is an awesome spot.
