I'm absolutely new to float tube fishing. I was given a float tube, fins, and a wet suit by a friend some years ago when his health failed, and have decided to give it a try, now that I've retired. I've been dusting off all the old fishing poles and tackle, figuring out what I can use, and what I can't.

I've had to give up fly fishing due to carpal tunnel. I just can't cast like that any more. I suspect that most of my fishing will be with my old Mitchel spinning reels.

Now I have to find a body of water bigger than my bird bath.

Those old Mitchells were great in the day, but their modern counterparts are decidedly better. Once you find some water you will probably want to upgrade. Even a $40 reel is a marked improvement.
