Last month our family cat of 9 years had a stroke and died instantly and in front of my 2 young children (ages 4 and 1) we were all devistated as our cat was a very healthy male with no problems at all.

If any of you have or know of anyone trying to get rid of a kitten, please PM me. We prefer a female cat, but are open to either gender. I really want to supprise my children and come home with a kitten. I live in Lomita and work in Cerritos, so if you are close to either location, please let me know.

Thanks guys and gals.

Sorry for your loss I know how pets become part of the family.

I would highly recommend checking out the animal shelter across the street from Eldorado Park. Not too long ago my younger sister adopted a kitten through there. It was pretty cool how it all went down. Someone turned in the mother (while pregnant) so she got sent off to a foster home. The foster parents (people) took care of the mom to be until she had the kittens and were of adoptable age. During that time the foster parents took pictures of the expecting mother and all the kittens once born. When my sister adopted the kitten she not only got the kitten but also a little scrap book of the kitten family.

At the end of the day it is a win win all around. You got to save a kitten by adopting, you know it will be neutered/spayed, all the shots will be up to date, and your kids will be stoked. Especially if they get the scrap book too.

I'm not sure if they do this for everyone or if it was a one time deal but my sister flipped with excitement when she found out that her new kitten came with photo's of mom and siblings.

Good luck in your search!

Thanks Lolly, I appriciate the lead. Do you know the name of the shelter by any chance? Do you know if they charge an adoption fee?

The address is 7700 East Spring Street, Long Beach, CA 90815. For the name google is coming up with Long Beach Animal Shelter and P.D. Pitchford Companion Animal Village. I am not sure of what is labeled on the building since I have not been there in a while. I do know that it is the same entrance on spring street as if you are going to the nature center. You tell the parking attendant that you are going to the shelter and he will let you in free of charge. You stay to the left and there is a little road that will take you right up to the shelter.

I know there is an adoption fee but I have no idea how much. I'm pretty sure it is not over $100.

Here is the link to there cat section. Keep in mind that the website may not be most current as compared to actually going there and seeing for yourself.
