So I'm wondering whats required for float tubing at night besides PFD and a head light lol, is there any other type of lighting required or certain equipment for the bays and harbors the coast guard or harbor patrol require? Also any other stuff you guys find handy or couldn't live without at night?

I clip on a flashing bicycle light behind my seat. Seeing as we move backwards =) oh yeah and nerves of steel. Everything sounds scary in the dark muahahahaha!

Lol ya I don't think I'm to big of a fan of tubing solo at night yet since I'm a newby to tubing, I like the idea of having a bike light clipped to the back of tube for extra visibility can be turned off when ninja mode is on or stealthness is needed and a air is a good idea to in case I really needed to get someone's attention or if a pesky sea dog is bothering me wait till he pops up next to me and give a air horn blast lol!

You will want a head lamp with optional red light setting so you can see what your doing. Using a white light at night on the water blinds you and makes it harder to see

Hmmmm never thought about the airhorn, I'm gonna have to take one along with me the next time I do a night session. I've got a few Sea Dog confrontations that I care not to duplicate any time soon.
Or ever for that matter.

An air horn is always a good idea. They make a mini version that fits nicely into the cup holders.

I fished the San Diego River in the dark once. Probably will not do that again. Spooky enough in the daylight.
