Pond fishing

I hit Mendon Ponds Park yesterday afternoon and although the fishing was slow I was able to pull out a 19 1/2 inch bass at dark.

Water was 84 degrees at the surface.

I love the evening bite. I don't care for coming off the water in the dark though. I'm always afraid I'm going to leave something behind.

You and me both. Not to mention if you turn on a white light you are instantly swarmed and covered with bazillions of insects!

Hey Hunt! You should get a Canadian Chapter going up there. Once we get some series going there will be Chapter tournaments. I would love to see a competition with A Canadian banner out there! Of course, you'd have to compete with Nebraska eventually. But seriously, I'd love to see a Canadian Banner on here.

I am too far from Canad(i)a for that. I would think it would need a Canadian.

Dear Hunt,

It's nice to see that people still float tube in New York State.  I moved away in 2001 but my brother and I spent a lot of time float tubing small lakes and ponds in the Southern Tier and NE Pennsylvania.

That's a dandy bass too brother!

I took an old friend tubing for the first time Saturday in a back-up tube. We have fished together many times in the past 25+ years but not recently. It was the first day of bass season and there were other people fishing prior to us getting on the water and it was bight sun and hot. Still, we had a blast and he caught a couple good fish and caught the tube bug, I believe.

Right on Hunt way to go maybe you guys should look into our float tube tournament series in August. This one is free and we are looking for those members out side of California.

That's a good looking bass, is it from the same place, Mendon Ponds Park you mentioned above?

Yes it is, I figured it would be less crowded than the lakes around here on the bass opener. It measured 18 in., did not weigh.
