Thought I would start here... So I've got a Shimano Sahara 1000. I bought the original (I'm on my second one) less than a year ago, problem is, I can't seem to find the receipt. Now I realize Shimano has an excellent replacement policy and that it's free before one year but I would like to get it fixed before my weekend getaway next weekend in Green Valley Lake. Last time I drove to Irvine to the factory and dropped it off personally. My work order got lost or something and I had to call to ask them to get on the ball. I was supposed to have the reel back in "2-3 days" and it took more like 2-3 weeks. I'm pretty sure it just has some sand in it but I'm willing to pay to have it cleaned by someone with more dexterity than myself. I drink too much coffee and will surely lose a screw or ten. Does anyone know of a good place to drop off a reel for maintenance where I won't have to wait around for shipping? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks guys and gals.

Sorry I am no help on where to send it, but I lube, oil, and clean my reels myself for times sake. I have never had a reel give me problems in the first couple of years on any brand. So if you can get it replaced do that.

So I dropped it shortly after making this post... it works fine now. Go figure. I think some sand got lodged in the gears and it probably shook free and is still in there somewhere. I'll use it on my trip until it starts acting up then switch it out. I was gonna let "cowgirl" use it anyway since I want to break in my new Shimano Stradic 1000 and Pfleuger Presidnt 500. I'll just bring a backup in case.

I use Kennys rod & Reel in Upland Ca. They wrap rods and repair reels. Richard does the reel repairs. But your time line seems very tight, give them a call before wasting a trip 909-931-9848 tell the Kirk sent you.

Thanks GT! Upland is probably easier for me but it's good to know two places for times like these where a quick turnaround is necessary.
