So I posted a question on our facebook page;

?Question? How many fly fishermen do we have on this page? Are you a purist or do you fish both fly and conventional?

I was surprised that out of 39 responses there was only 2 that where either all fly fishing or all conventional. So let us know where are you when it comes to fishing. Cool

So I was surprised by the response on facebook on how many people did both. right now we show 50/50 here and we will know more soon I am sure. I am certain we will be very heavy on the Conventional side that is just my thought but we will see. Thumbs Up

I love to fly fish and actually prefer it over conventional. I still use conventional and find that in some instances it's easier to use than on the fly. For example, if I'm working structure and its delicate structure like a boat Conventional all the way. Or if there isn't really any room to back cast then conventional would be better for the situation. I find that fly fishing is more involved but it definitely feels more rewarding when you catch fish. Also, the size of fish will vary depending on rod size because you can't throw a large fly say on a 5 wt. You can but it takes more power to get the fly out there. All in all, I enjoy fishing and for me, the order goes first fly fishing and second is conventional.

Thanks for your vote and info very well put. I am looking at picking up a few setups from Maxxon the ones we are selling now. I am looking at a 4 to 5 weight for freshwater fishing and a 7 to 8 weight for salt water.
I assume I will need a sinking line for Saltwater and I can do either for freshwater but I think floating makes more sense for fresh. What do you think @fly562 does that sound about right.

I would recommend a 5 wt for your trout, bluegill, and small bass. an 8 wt for carp, big largemouth, Surf fishing, and fishing the bay. you can also get a 3 wt to fish the local mountains for small trout and bluegill as well. anything that is shallow you can use a floating line. For the surf and bay or just deep water, a sinking shooting line or sinking line will work.

Looks like it is still neck and neck conventional and both flyfishing and conventional interesting, to say the least were do you stand.
