Got to the lot at 530 to meet everyone up. Both dan and gt were there setting up already. It was nice meeting you Enrique! Look forward to sharing the water with you more often.
Hit the water at about 550 before the sunrise. I got spooked from some large wakes near me so I decided to stick close until I can see better. Ended up, a hoard of sea lions decided to crash dans celebration. He counted about 20? They weren’t shy at all and got real close to us. Stuck around till we got off the water at 1200.
Fishing wasn’t spectacular, but it was good if we put our heads down and scratched out some bites. Gt did great on quality sandbass. Enrique had his heart broken early on by a fish that wouldn’t budge. Dan and I got our slow but steady picks. Dan got his trifecta and I was mr barracuda apparently with 4 twigs and a few bite offs at color.
It was a good, but numbing, day on the water. If you decide to fish the wee hours of dawn/dusk, please remember to dress adequately due to the temps.
Happy birthday to dan again!
