Sadly, we couldn't get to Catnip this year. But we did get to a really good trout lake.

Deer Creek Reservoir, near Nevada City, CA, was the maiden voyage of the float tube "J," for her and float tube P (for Pete).

The road was a bit rough, but if a Ford Fusion can make it, it's not THAT rough.

I caught a two-pound rainbow and a three pound brown, but returned both to the water. No meat hunting on this trip. The float tube was not very able to take much wind with a 6' 3" sail sitting in it. For this lake, I recommend floating all the way to the dam when the wind is still, and just let that wind push you like it's a trolling motor, something I want to acquire pretty soon.

I do  fine in no-wind conditions but am still learning to cope with wind. In the near future, my technique for headwinds will be named Minn Kota, powered by Kanavano (12vdc, 30AH lithium). I've got a 10AH lithium battery  for the Striker 4.

No pictures because Dumbass Pete forgot the GoPro. SH-T.

How was everybody's 4th?

Nice outing at any rate, fish on.
My home lake develops a good breeze regularly. I use the same technique, kick into the wind early and let it push me back to my launch spot.

Thanks for sharing

Very nice. Truly peaceful place. I was able to let my stress go in that place. I'll be looking for more places of peace and TROUT!!!
