Thanks for the welcome, Jeff. Now I see where you guys were fishing.
I was wondering if the water was warm enough to fish without waders?

I don't have waders (yet) so I just used the bottom half of my freediving farmer john wetsuit and to be honest I was hot after 8:00am when the sun came through the overcast. It's not really cold, but you have to think about your feet being in the water the entire time. I think the next time I go I'm gonna bring a mask and a weight belt and simply drop in to cool off between fish.

Like always the fishing was fun. LGHT was on his first float tube trip and he kicked my A*#. It was a pleasure fishing with everybody. I would like to think Vegabond and Ed I believe they where the winners. I would also like to think Dano,Jeff, and Ed for organizing a nice event and the sponsor Big Hammer. I had to leave a little early 3pm is a long time in a tube for me.LGHT posted some photos of our outing and I have a few photos and some details on my Blog. I was just wondering about the water temperature. I don't like wearing waders if I don't have to. If my upper body is reasonably warm, I can tolerate cooler water temperatures. But when it gets downright cold, I just have to pull on the rubber suit. green happy

Sounds good... I'm trying to figure out what day would work best. I think I may have "Honey Do's" either Sat or Sun, but not sure.

I've been to Catalina for scuba diving back in the day and there was no harbor really it was just island and ocean to me, I'd be scared to tube it between the currents and the ocean life not to mention boats come into that harbor suicide bomber style. But for awhile I did look into what they call Mother Ships where they take you and your kayak out and drop you off, let you fish with the current then come by and pick you up and take you to another spot to fish again... some even serve lunch while you travel to a spot. Be kinda cool if they did that with float tubes.

LGHT if I had known you never been in the harbor before I would have put togeather a plastics assortment of things we know work there for you. But looks like you did just fine with what you brought! I was you guys over near shore and was thinking hmmm they are halibut searching.

Oh yeah and let's all give thanks to the entertaining people with the water jet pack that were kind enough to eat it in front of us a few times when the fishing was slow Very Happy
