New to FTF. ..and yes, I've used the search function looking for anything about NC. Here's my situation.  I'm out here in Raleigh/Durham, NC and apparently I'm the only one in North Carolina that has a float tube. No clubs, fan groups, nothing. 90% of the fishable water are huge 10,000 acre reserviors with lots of boat traffic although there are smaller bays with less. The other 10% are smaller kayak fishing "no water contact" lakes that don't allow float tubes. Yet. When I talk to Wildlife commission lake managers or rangers almost none of them know what a float tube is and won't budge on the rule. I would love to know if any of you have run into a similar situation and what you can suggest. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum greengp.
I live in California and we have plenty of lakes that are no contact. I personally just avoid them. For me the floattube is quick and easy to get on the water. I won't spend my time trying to persuade the government to recognize floattube as anything, because they will just want to charge money and add regulations.

Maybe someone else will have another idea.

Yeah, they would still consider that "contact" if any part of you is in the water, waders or no waders.

This is crazy you are starting something unique over there.  We wish you luck I am sure it will get figured out and you just might be the sole reason it does.

It sounds like a dream come true with all of that water.
I say ..... find; contact-allowed, waters and enjoy all of the neat facial expressions! Thumbs Up

It's already happened. I was out today and as I put back into the landing I heard a guy in a boat about twenty yards away say.."What the hell is that thing?"

I experience the same thing in Chesapeake, VA. I just go ahead and fish those waters.
