I had a lazy day start to my fishing session.
Fished at LAH from 0600 hrs until 1000 hrs
My fish count: 13-fish this session.
(4) short Sandy's, best 9"
(5) short Spotty's, best 9 1/2"
(1) short Calico 11 1/2"
(1) Kelp Bass 12 3/4"
(1) Mackerel 10 1/2"
(1) Halibut 27" LEGAL, this is my 4th (photo'd) legal Halibut landed this season.
I thought that my dead-man rod; using a 5/8 oz Glow Green/Silver HUB, had snagged into the kelp ... AGAIN! .... "it just stayed bent over" and still (dead), it bent even more if I kicked or moved slightly away ... so I give it a good solid yank, in order to get it out of the kelp .... nothing .... so I took up all of the slack-line and I give it another real solid yank ...
Still nothing ... Hmmmm! .... it didn't budge ... it felt solid! ... I thought for sure that I'd have to break-it-off again ... WHEN! ... the bottom of the ocean EXPLODES and it YANKS BACK!! .. EVEN HARDER AND HEAVIER!!!
FISH ON!!
I knew then and there that I had something really heavy buttoned-on, so I loosened my drag; just-a-bit, and I thoroughly enjoyed the strength of the fish and it's multiple line-ripping runs for the next six minutes before it actually exhausted it's-self-out to where I could get it close enough to I.D. it as a possible legal Halibut and to land-it on my lap-tray for it's measure and photo opp!
This is how it's done folk's!

Note ... there was absolutely no tail-slapping or head shaking going-on with this particular Halibut.
Thanx for checking out my fish report,
