Legal Halibut [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] landed

I always like to take a few minutes before each session begins ... to calm my thoughts and to remember to give thanks to HIM!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I am so very grateful for having received His blessings of good health and for this opportunity to be here today ... to be able to enjoy this water, with all of it's abundance and to take-in the sunrise of each new day.

SP Dan's fish count for today: (3)

(1) short Spotty 7 1/2"
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
(3) Halibut 13 3/4", 21' and a Legal at 22"

I had 3 more on the line that had gotten away, one for certain was legal sized!

Thanx for taking the time to check out my fish report.

SP Dan

Thanx Jeff,

I landed the 13 3/4" Hali skunk buster at 06:12 hrs and the next fish wasn’t landed until 09:10 hrs.
It was a short fish feeding window!

LAH; as you know, can be a very quirky harbor because it's so vastly spread-out with all of it's main channels in different directions and because of it's varying depth from 8 ft to 85 ft.
Lots of deep water movement with lots of deep and shallow eddies. The large leaf kelp beds are super healthy, mainly due to the harbor's water's; flushing and flooding, tidal movements, and are holding large amounts of fish!

My Grandapa would tell me ....

"Anyone can go anywhere and get lucky once, anytime ... but with the necessary skill(s) ... being consistent most of the time is key!"

Tight lines,

SP Dan

WTG Dan!!

I have seen or heard of more halibut caught in the harbors this year than in the last decade or more. Do you think that people are better at finding them, more people are fishing, or are there plainly more halibut?
At any rate, thanks for sharing.

None of the above Jerdon.

People have been catching the halibut all along but they seem to be reporting their catches more in the last year, I’d say.

I don’t really know, what do you think Jerdon?

Hi David,

I had three days of high confidence that I would land another halibut if they were there.
I was just following my spider instincts and it paid off for me this time.
It was definitely a fun and exciting time to share with all!

Thanx,

SP Dan

Hi ya Toby,

I believe that I just showed up prepared in the area where the Hali’s were conjugating for some reason, I lowered my drop shot rig and my deadman rig and in no-time, they were on me!

I pulled out five Halibut; one of them being a legal from that one spot and then the 2nd legal was landed across the harbor on my way back to my launch site.

Thank you for chiming-in buddy!  Thumbs Up

SP Dan
