Recently, I met a tuber whose tube exploded from too much pressure after inflation. He left it on the asphalt after tubing. There was another where the bladder held but the shell split a seam.

Anyone else have tubes explode from expansion from heat?

Curious.

I have blown a seem on the water from the heat and expansion. And I have seen bladders pop as well luckily not mine and not on the water. On hot day be sure to relieve pressure when you can and it's safe to do so.

Wow. Thanks. Great to know. Doesn't scare me as I monitor pressure regularly and start slightly underinflated. But I did wonder if tubes do get damaged from heat.

I had the seams split on the Browning Float Tube tube in my avatar.

I replaced a rubber innertube with with a PVC bladder. The PVC seems to swell in the sun or heat more than rubber.

Agreed whit the PVC still better to under inflate your float on hot days.

Interesting. I don't know why PVC would swell more. Isn't PVC less stretchy than rubber? Curious.

Yep, happened to us last summer. Hubby left the float tube in the car fully inflated, and in the sun...it popped.

I keep it simple,
I fish almost every day and what I do is ... I constantly check my air pressure by pushing my thumbs into each of my air bladder skins; of my Cumberland, and it should depress 1.5” while still being firm.

There is no set amount of air, tightness or psi ... you just need to constantly check and adjust.
Simple.
I hope that this was helpful.
