Sorry I meant to answer this yesterday but that damn work thing gets in the way. Pros and Cons of oars on tubes. I have been using tubes like this for the last few years.

Pros - Added propulsion, peace of mind if the wind kicks up or current gets strong, you can travel a little farther a little faster.

Cons - Something handing off the side of your tube that can get in the way of rod racks and fish finder. They are not as useful as you think they could be.

So most often I go with out oars as they really don't serve my needs as much as I felt they would. But if I know there is going to get time they will be useful, such as I want to hit some spots quick before the tide changes to bring me back. Or if I expect to be in some windy condition. Overall I am happy I have oars they just don't always have there benefits.

Hope that helps.

Thanks. That is about what I figured. I think I will get them; it's easy to leave them off sometimes, but hard to invent them on the spot. Cheers. j

Check out the new Outcast Cruiser Max. Great tube and oars can fold flat to side of tubes to stay out of the way.

OK here is the Outcast Cruiser Max I saw this a while ago and I though it looked pretty nice. I am sure it works well but I wonder how long the Canvas will hold up to the rowing. Thanks for sharing.

When you use the oars, you are not touching the canvas. It also has urethane bladders so it should last many years. I use the oars to get to the location on the lake I want to start fishing and then fold the oars down and start using my fins when fishing.

Ya I have been using these types of oar setups on my Hybrid tubes for awhile now. Its nice to have them in place to help you move around in tough conditions. Can I ask do you have an use the Outcast Cruiser Max? I would like to know more about it as well.

Yes, I use the cruiser max on lakes and reservoirs here in Kansas. It fits in the back of my SUV. The seat bottom and back are foam and adjustable. The seat stays dry but the storage behind the seat gets wet. It is very easy to row and maneuver with the oars.

I have oars that attach to my Maxxon 240.  Have not tried them out yet.  Now that I have the Bixby motor I’m not sure I ever will. But I should and have them with me, like Jeff said earlier, in case I get too far out or stuck in the wind.  I think that Outcast Cruiser Max is a sweet ride.

Have oars on both my Scaddens.
Helpful to have footbar to use as leverage and to get fins out of the water
Still need to be somewhat coordinated to row in the wind as these balloons dont track great even with a skeg.
I pretty much leave them at home and use Haswing brushless trolling motor in big water.

Sorry for the delay in getting back here; life is a busy place. I thank all for the replies. I need to get something soon, and will likely get one w/ oars; can always leave them off. Cheers. j

I’ve never used oars …
And honestly, I’ve never needed them.

Oars are hard to fabricate on the water if one needs them for some reason. The size of musky I am looking for may require them if I want to avoid being towed out to sea and devoured. I look at them as a fairly cheap insurance policy and it looks like some have them nicely tucked out of sight/harm's way. Something like the Fish Cat Cruzer looks about right.
