I make my first Bikepacking trip tomorrow

A big lead up to the and tomorrow is the day. I will only ride 9 miles to the campsite but I will be weighted down. I will spend 2 night in Chino Hills with my kids. At the end I will pack back up and possible ride the 19 miles back home.

Well here goes nothing I will report back soon.

It's been 5 days now.

Ha ha ha no sir trip is over and it was a blast. 2 days in Chino Hills lots of Coyotes and cold nights. Funny how I cannot wait for the next trip the main focus was the riding and while ride to the site was tough the ride home proved to be the toughest. The ride home started with a Hike A Bike section of about a mile and a half. It was straight uphill for ever. Finally as I hit the pike and started coming down I had my first mishap. My front breaks seized up as the cable got shoved between my break pads and disc. I almost endowed (head over the handle bars). After some trails side work I was back in business until I noticed my front tire going flat. So 3 stops to reinflate and I made it back to Brea. It was a blast and I will be planning the next trip for sure.

Sounds awesome. Glad you had a great trip . RoadTrail side repairs only make you better as long as you make it home safe, it’s all part of the adventure .

So true. Part of my plan as well is to get better at servicing my own bikes as well. I can do most of the basics, but I will be working on learning more of the challenging repairs and tuning I will need to know. I just put on Hydraulic break the other day, and they would great.
