I have a question for those that have used or are using dive style fins. What do you prefer long fin blades, medium fin blades, or short fin blades. Now I have used typically a medium blade over the years and it has worked well for me. I am just wondering if you like the longer blade over the shorter blade or vice versa. Or are you a medium blade style dive fin user.

I'm not sure if my old Hot Spot fins qualified as "dive fins" but they certainly were long enough to land in that category in my opinion. They were fairly stiff and I did find that my knees started to ache a tad if I was really putting some oomph into my kicks when crossing a channel, especially against the tide.

I ended up cutting off about 3" or so off the ends and this felt like it helped to reduce the strain on the knees. Maybe that moved me into the "medium length" category? Mind you, my knees are in fine shape, I regularly play ice hockey and used to mt. bike without any knee issues.

Should I get another float tube, I may give my old Viper Surfing Fins a shot from the ol' bodyboarding days. They are much smaller than my old Hot Spots, so it may take more effort.

I only Force fin.
They make all types of fins, long diving fins as well as their shorter and really incredible float tube fins.
I prefer their shorter fins.
I did own a pair of their longer dive fins. They were just OK.

I hope that this helps in answering your survey question!?

Cutting down your fins never would have thought of that, thanks for your input.

I've run both short and medium fins. Short fins turn on a dime, but it takes a lot more energy to cover distance compared to the longer fins. I tried some long ones before and they do help with covering distance, however, it's a huge draw back trying to quick turns with them and it's annoyingly long when landing/launching. I've settled with medium length ones.

Personally, I like a fin that has some flexibility. I would say my current fins are of medium length, 2 outer ribs and a soft center. I agree with Kin, they do add a little excitement when
I try to move around when standing.

In my younger days I had duck feet and my current Green Church Hill fins, for body surfing, belly board, bogie board.
I wouldn't think they would make for good tubing fins. GT

i tried out my new Hollis Open Heel F-1 dive fins today, after using the fins that came with my Cumberland tube. What. A. Difference.

The longer fin noticeably increased the propulsion factor.

they are 23-1/2" long from heel to tip of fin.

moving through the water with the fins did require a bit more effort but my quads were not fatigued.

they are a bit on the heavy side so i may rig up a tether, (although i don't see any reason that they would fall off of my foot. the fins use a stainless steel spring system to keep them snug.) they were easy to get on and off.

they are a bit pricey, but not in the force fin category.

all in all, i would highly recommend the fins.
