Jenks closed

Fisher and I went to lake jenks but closed for the winter so we made the long drive to bigbear. We finally got to bigbear and found out that it is $12 to launch your tube an had to get inspected. I wasnt to happy bout the launch fee but paid to anyways. As soon as we hit the water carp were jumpin like crazy for the lil skeeters on the water. Seen some nice trout bein caught from shore but didnt get any our selfs. I forgot my fly rod n cornflakes so carp n trout were outta the picture. Fisher caught a cupple bass on watermellon red flake ika. I hooked in to somethin with weight but spit the hook. So I got skunked but thats why they call it fishin n not catchin. All in all I got to float in wadders for the first time which were awesome an the scenery was great. Might go back to fly some trout n carp.

Sorry for the closure bro glad you made up to Big Bear. I have seen those carp all over the surface it is crazy to see. $12 that does suck, I tubed it a few times during the week. I think I missed the inspection and fee's. Just pulled into Bolder Bay and launched with out anyone seeing me.
So I guess I got away with it.
I remember the first trip up there I left my palce at 3am got to the waters edge and relized I forgot my license. Damn had to get a day pass but no cost to tube, really I just did not get caught. OK I am done talking now got any pictures

Wow Jenks closed already? I thought I read that you can park outside the lake and just walk in and fish?

Either way Big Bear is a great lake to fish. I caught a few small trout from shore during a company retreat a few years ago and that was on borrowed gear and not really knowing what I was doing.

ya jenks had signs up sayin closed to public in till may 15 so i guess they just started to not let ppl in anymore so it looks like they only want ppl to fish that 4 or 5 months of the year which is pretty stupid i think

I wonder if it's a result of all the cut backs and them just not getting approved to keep staff working year round. Hopefully some of the stocker will make it over the season and be ready to catch next year!

I am sure it is partly do to cute backs.

I will so go with you guys next trip, but will be taking my fishing bow, for the Carps.

We seen a guy out there bow fishin the weed beds but didnt see him get nothin. I know theres some big carp in there we saw them swimmin between our feet pretty cool. Next time for sure im bringin the fly rod. So many carp eatin skeeters on the fly.
