How many rod tubes are enough?
I was thinking four on mine but didn't count the two horizontal holder I'm planning for a future mod
So, maybe three then.

What do you guys consider enough?
I have 32 spots on my boat to store rods, not all are being used at once but like being able to move the rods to different locations. Smile

One forward for holding a trolling rod, while you're holding one for casting. 3 slots in the back for holstering during transport in the water. May be one extra slot (the 4th) for your net.

Three rods down the left side and the mount for the Fish Finder, one trolling rod holder and two miscellaneous spots (pliers and boga grips) on the right side.

Keep It Simple!!!!

The more you take or mount on your fishing platform...the more to get in the way or lose!!

My rule is: One rod is enough if you know how to fish!

I have three on the left side so as not to interfere with casting. On the right side is the fish finder.

My set up is a flat rack that hold 3 horizontal to the water on the left side of my tube. I think it is time for an upgrade my wheels are spinning and smoke is coming out my ears.

Hm..simple approach. One rod, lose it, use your fingers and toes as temporary rods extension Razz

I completely understand the simplicity angle of float tubing and I have occasions when I want this approach. I have times when I really value my options too.As you can tell at the moment I am in a options mood. But the nice thing about my set up now is the versatility. Its a system that allows me to decide how and how much gear I want to fish. I also enjoy my gear and enjoy the opportunity to fish more than one combo if for no other reason than to simply enjoy using the equipment. Options...just love 'em! But simplicity definitely has it's rewards as well I can not deny.

3 minimum for me
4-5 ideal
Extra spots to store rods are better than not enough.
FF mandatory. Not necessarily for locating game fish, rather for seeing presence of bait fish, structure, depth of water and temp.

Since getting into float tubing, I've come to realize that you are limited to hitting a lot of different spots, so you have to fish each spot thoroughly with different techniques (why the need for multiple outfits) before moving on to the next. By fishing this way, you can figure out what is working that day. study
