This may not be an issue for some of the younger members but may be a godsend for any old farts on this forum.

This was passed onto me last year by a good friend I fish with in Texas and let me tell you...it works!

If wearing stocking foot waders while tubing or wading, put on a pair of slippery, dress socks underneath the neoprene socks. At the end of the day your feet slide easily out of your waders without your going into a contortionists routine.

LOL! Nope, old fart is >= 67. Or anyone who is getting too stiff to take off his waders alone. But that might be a nice discussion for another post.

Hey Guys,
another good undersock (first layer against your skin) are baseball sanitaries. They are thin, pretty slick, and you can get them in lengths up to the top of your shins. They are cheap and clean easily! If you can afford them wading silks are the best but are expensive and should be hand washed. Silks are very good for cold weather.

Here "up north" in Wisconsin, I've been wearing a pair of UnderArmour socks that wick moisture away underneath a pair of wool socks. The water is cold here in the spring and late fall.

I have some lined warm up pants that I sewed some 1 inch elastic staps on the bottoms to keep them from bunching up when pushing my feet into the booties. They have nylon outers and slide into and out of the waders quite easily. They are big enough to slip over my jeans or even some sweat pants when it gets cold. Do note as well those nylon dress socks under your boot socks for hunting will help prevent blisters too. Any slippage rubs on the sock which stays put instead of your heels or toes. Helps wick away moisture as well. I am and old fart and have been doing this for several years now ,,, Red Smile

I also hear if you put on a pair of panty hose you can slip in and out of those waders real easy. lol!

Kind of scary thinking about what else may follow you home if you prance around in that outfit. Think I'll stick with men's dress socks. Smile

Do you have to wear those fancy little snap garters to keep the dress socks up??? Smile JK, sometimes I get cramps in my legs trying to get out of my waders. Is there really a supplement that lessens cramps??? Probably a topic for another thread.

Yes, I have heard that staying hydrated is key, but that also means more potty stops. In a tube that can be tricky! (another topic for another thread) fortunately I bought waders with a waterproof zipper in the front.

I use white tube socks that go up over claves, they help prevent the cramps and keep warm(ish)

Well you might laugh about the panty hose but they work like a lycra that you wear to slip in and out of your wetsuit for diving. But i wouldn't wear a lycra its thicker than panty hose.

That too. Personally I'd rather take a Gatorade, or have something like a Gatorade Prime (G1 series) before getting out before drinking that stuff. I had some bad experiences with it as a kid, so I've hated it since. Haha
