Havent ben able to hit the lake all week but found an hour to go today. I wanted to get some fishing here before the cold front. I only had a 2 hours at most and wanted to fish fast and find a bite.
I got to the lake around 4 with only a box of two "senko palms" 1 Ika 2 rat l traps an Sebile Magic Swimmer and a bomber long 15 a.
I get out of my car and grab my pole when a fellow angler came and asked me for a senko palm lol. I told him that i dont just pass them out and that if he wants one he could just make it, look it up online lol. Instead I give him my only size 5 hook and Ika just tp get him away from me. Sucks cause I wanted to toss the Ika today..... Oh well I tied on a #3 hook and put a senko palm on and began to go to town.
First cast, I cast into wind and get a backlash! I get it untangled and thought I should toss something heavier so I put on a 1/2oz rat l trap in a custom color I came up with.
Ok, so it is just a chrome rat l trap that had its paint chipped off from only about 50 casts.
I colored it red with a sharpie and put a black lighting bolt on the side. I got bored one day and decided to paint it. lol
Third cast, this guy decides to hit my rat l trap. He hit it on the drop after a hard tug, yoyo retrieve.
Fish didnt give up a good fight, only 2 runs and 1 jump. I pointed my rod tip down to prevent him from jumping too much and tossing the hook.
Brought her in, took a pic and sent her back on her way. Measured 23 x 15 and approx 61/2lbs on the fish weight calc. She looked really healthy.
