Just joined the forum and glad to be here. I'm a retired Postmaster living in the Northern Sierra Nevada Mountains near Mount Lassen in Northern California. I try to avoid crowds so I tend to fish remote waters such as high mountain lakes and reservoirs. I float around on the XR-10 pontoon boat from The Creek Company (pictured below). I love fishing and being out in the wilderness, although I do wish the fish were more consistent. I find that sometimes they are not as experienced as other fish and they have trouble holding on as I reel in.  I'm glad to be here and I thank you for having me.

Excellent pontoon selection, and a great simple setup. Extremely heavily duty oars.

You nailed it, the oars are extremely heavy duty. In fact, the entire boat is heavy duty and more than handles everything I can throw at it. Thanks AsianGuy

I know about that oars, because I upgraded my oars to the same ones for my Dave Scadden Sunrise pontoon. Feels light, but it can handle quite a lot of punishment in the dense weeds. I've play with the XR. One thing that it's lacking, is the ability to literally stand up and use the pontoon for fly fishing. That's why went with the Sunrise over the XR. Didn't feel like the risk on standing on the chair and rear platform to do false casts, and accidentally send myself flying into the water along with the line.

The Creek Company sells a standing platform for the XR 10 priced at $119. I'm thinking about getting one but using the boat in its stock form for 3 years now, I haven't really felt the need to stand up yet.

Would like to welcome you to the forum.  I am new here also, so hope to learn and share some of what I know with you too.  Live in Colorado, but maybe someday will fish those beautiful lakes you have in Northern California.

Thank you ReelFishPosse. I checked out your blog. I love it. Read the "Letter From Mom" and then read it to my wife. We both had a good laugh at that one. Also read about catching only small fish. Haven't made up my mind about fishing with you as a result. LOL.

I book marked the blog and plan to return to it now and then. Hope you don't mind but I added your story "Letter From Mom" to my facebook page for my family to enjoy. It's a kick.
