First trip out on my tube (Now with Pics)

Well today I finally got tired of waiting to try out my tube (I have no fins). So I took the tube to a lake I've been wanting to fish and decided I would try without fins, just waders. Turned out to be a rather breezy day at 16mph wind, but I was able to make it out at least 200yards kicking against the wind. I missed a few fish and landed one northern which was very fun in a tube! All in all, I am super glad I invested in a tube. Now I just need fins and a calm day and I will take a camera and show you all some fish from MN.

Very cool so glad you had a great first trip no fins and all,  you are brave to battle the wind with out fins. next time with find you are really going to get around, looking forward to the pictures.

Wow, I tried without fins once (fin strap broke) and I could not get anywhere! You must have been churning up a froth with just your feet!

man I can barely even kick across the pool in my tube without fins what a trooper!

I didn't really think it was horrible just time consuming. More concerned on catching fish I guess haha. Waiting to use my tube for two weeks was just too much!

This man is the Definition of a Fisherman , no matter how cold , windy and I have no fins I am going fishing and enjoying my time !

I recently bought a tube for my two sons to share and have been alternating taking the two of them out.  Last Wednesday was boy #2's turn and we put in at Lower Otay (his 2nd trip).  After a while he started complaining that the fins were hurting his feet so I had him kick over to me and I helped him adjust his fins.  He went back to flippin' the tullies and I kicked out to drag the weed line.  After he watched me start hooking up, he decided he would come out and join in on the fun.  I noticed that it took him quite a while to get out to me and when he got real close, I saw his fins in the back of the tube  !  He said that as soon as he and I separated, he took them off.  And, he finished off the evening (about another 1 1/2 hours) kickin' around without them.  The wind wasn't gale force but it was definitely blowing!!!

Thanks for all of the posts! As I promised here are some pictures of a few northerns (and me). The pics are poor quality due to my camera being dead and using my crappy phone, but I figured I better get some pics up. My wife has an inflatable pool tube I attached to the side of my tube and now she can sun bathe while I fish, and take pics for me!

Yeah but I don't think I would want to lip 'em!! 

Be careful not to hook/puncture your wife's tube. That is unless you have a really comfortable couch.

Haha if I want her to use a float tube like my own I have to coax her out with a "pretty tube" first!
