I was wondering if anyone has modernized their tube to include wheels… as in 'Attached' wheels that let you roll the tube to the waters edge, and remain on the tube while you fish. Not that the tube is heavy but with all your gear and fish finders etc… it would make the trip to the water a lot easier.

I'm also curious if anyone has ever added a stabilizer bar to a fish cat or super fat Cat. I think any Good shoe repair place could stitch some open ended patches on top of the canvas tubes and put an appropriate length of plastic or even wood across the front.
Rob

I remember seeing one before but I cannot seem to find it. It was pretty much to where you have two rod racks, one on the right of the tube and one on the left of the tube. Then there was a cross member that goes behind the seat and connects the two rod racks. From that cross member there was another pipe that goes down right in the center behind the seat and there was a wheel on the bottom of that pipe. The wheel permanently stayed there on the one that I saw.

Yep… that's just what I had in mind… any instructions come along with that… where to buy wheels and axle etc. How it's attached to the tube… What is the tall PVC pipe at the back of the tube for? Sorry I'm having a "Stupid' Day today.

Took some serious digging but I finally found the tube I was trying to describe. If you look at the tube on the top it was one wheel that comes down the center behind the seat

I've just seen it a couple times and don't know the exact details to it. For a rough idea refer to post #4 on this thread.

Plenty of us mod our tubes with wheels now. Beats killing ourselves, pain meds, and personal injuries for hauling heavy things.

Leo… do those wheels stay on while you fish or do you take em off? Might sound like a stupid question…
Thanks again for posting the pick… You have any instructions to go along with the pic?

Rob, you can do both. They can stay on while you fish, or take off and use as a backrest support. Here's the design layout:

Bottom side, based on In2Deep design:

Bottom side removed:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Back rest is not the cross 1.5" PVC pipe, rather, the wheel axle that can be place behind the foam backrest, with a bit of tie down, so just in case you have to pop a really big brown trout:

Hey Guys,
check out this site, we use these wheels in my industry for just about anything that needs to be dragged out over soft, rough, uneven ground. They are a bit big but because they are, they are pretty stable as a wheelbarrow type wheel. (one instead of two). They are excellent on sand.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

checkit!! (I am definitely going to incorporate them on my new toon!)

We have two, one for the beach items when we have fun in the sun and bond fires, and the other is for our kayaks. The best in hauling heavy gears over the sand, hands down. Not good to haul it over hot surfaces over too long of a distant (1/2 mile and more), especially under the California's summer sun and asphalt.

Hey Asian Guy,
Not sure I understand your reference to the hot asphalt? We use these things constantly, on just about every conceivable surface, in every conceivable weather. Never a failure. Have you had trouble?

bodfish, yep, twice. Dead of summer, last August, air was 112°F, asphalt probably in the 120°F+. We rolled about 1/2 mile, hauling a fully loaded cooler, collapsible table, some wood, no more than 110lbs, below the threshold of the 160lbs recommended weight. Right tire went *PPPPSSSHHHH* Discovered the mid line of the tire where the joining occur came literally in halves, after 3 years of usages. Went and order another one, and haven't have any trouble yet for the past 2 years, with load up to the tire recommended weight. But we only travel roughly 500ft, from parking lot to sand, and to fire pit.

Innovative as usual, Leo.
Im not convinced having wheels dragging along is such a good thing. But hauling your tube and moutain of crap a long way sure makes wheels seem a necessity.

Youre my hero.

Not to be the wet blanket here, but, wouldn't the wheels create drag in the water? Now put fins on the side of those wheels and electrify them and you have drive!
