Well, I just finished my first session on my float tube today at Irvine lake. It was a blast! It was a beautiful day and the wind didn't get to crazy.
To start off, here is my terrible reporting skills.
Air temp was around 72 and when the wind picked up it was about 8-10 mph (pretty mellow). Water temp was warm, don't know the exact degrees lol. Fish species caught were bass, crappie and trout.
So the morning bite did start kind of slow. My buddy and I fished the far end of West shore towards the damn. We ended up catching a few small trout and some bass. I got all my fish on a gold kastmaster, they wanted nothing to do with mini jigs, mouse tail or plastic worms (I did hear it was really good near the launch ramps in the morning). Once it hit about 10am the trout bite shut off, but seemed like the bass were still wanting to bite as well as crappie. My buddy and I kicked across the lake to the cliffs and that's where Pavo (my friend) caught a big crappie and a little trout. Around 1pm the wind started to picked up and made things a little more challenging, around that same time my buddy had to get going, but I continued to fish for a while longer. Nothing really was going on, so around 2pm, I decided it was time to head in. Once I got close to my destination, I watched a shore fisherman hook up to a decent size trout. Naturally I decided to give it 20 more minutes. I put on a white/orange mouse tail and threw it out, with it not even being in the water for a full minute I got a bite and bam, I was on a fun size trout. He was a little fighter and since this was my first Tubing experience, it was epic! It felt like I was fighting a Marlin lol.
Needless to say, this was an amazing experience and you all were right, I AM HOOKED! This is one of the most amazing ways to fish, I wish it didn't take me so long to give it a try. I cant wait to go fish from the tube again. I am in love! and luckily my wife understands. lol.
Here are a few pics I took while on my adventure.
