There Marina Has Said there was a 3.6lb Bluegill Caught Sunday  , checked there face book , website and no information ... Grrrr  any panfish guys out there that can confirm this?

I did a search as well, saw something saying that a bluegill about that size was caught on fishingnetwork.net but it was back in october 2011. But nothing for this past sunday.

Hmmm , I am still digging and searching , but not finding anything either .. I was hoping maybe some of our resident pan fisherman , Komori (Jeff) , TheAsianGuy (leo) may have heard something on there end. It is just a Buzz on a few websites and when I called skinner they confirmed that a large gill was caught , but would not disclose more details .. Something is Fishy here lol

For some reason I think it's a publicity stunt from the lake. If someone catches something worth mentioning everyone knows about it before he even gets back to dry land... I could be wrong though...

So I was bored and browsing my facebook.  Guess what random report I found lol.  I guess this answers your questions

I dont think that will officially stand that fish looks mixed with a Redear , just missing the orange off the gill plate  lol!

Even though it looks part Redear, that is still a toad!

Yes, if you enlarge the photo, you can see a light colored edge on that "ear" gill flap, which would indicate that this fish has some Redear Sunfish traits.  However, this fish also has the "double bar" vertical stripes that Northern Bluegill have.  So in my mind and several other panfish "experts", we think that this fish is probably a hybrid Bluegill/Redear Sunfish.  It's still a really awesome trophy catch, just that it has to go in it's own category for a Lake Record fish.  I'm not sure how the lake will list it. Probably as a Lake Record Bluegill.  Possibly the only way a fisherman can now break that record there is to catch either a Bluegill or a Redear or another hybrid that is larger than this 3.69 fish..  I'll give it a try!

The short dorsal fin is interesting. That's not a trait of a Redear. I see that most commonly in Green Sunfish. Perhaps there's a bit of of that mixed in this Hybrid panfish?

My sources say it is full on Redear.
