I have a friend that caught four small 9 to 11 inch stripers this afternoon from the fishing dock near the damn. Robert was using a small jig tipped with nightcrawler pieces under a bobber. So did the Striped Bass spawn in the lake or were they washed in through the aqueduct system just like the big ones that are in the lake? I hope they were not spawned here. If so, could be bad news for the other gamefish.

Komuri,
I am guessing, but I think they figured out how to survive in the still waters, nature is funny that way.Today is the first I have heard of the smaller schoolie stripers, everything I have read or heard has been monsters before today.
Do you know how big they have to be to be keepers?

there has always been stripers in perris and they spawn every year the reason there isnt alot of stripers in perris cuz the water is to dirty for them to get in the numbers like dv

There have been Go Pros Dropped down by the inlet , by a few professional bass fisherman (Pete Marino to name one) and they have told me you wold not believe how many stripers and flat head catfish they have seen on video in Perris ..

So as you may here , they may have found a way

Flatheads too eh? lol now all you need are Peacock bass, some snakeheads, and slap in some Tilapia. With all that you'll have a world class fishery!

I don't know why more guys don't go over to the corner of the dam, near the buoy line, and fly line out big chunks of Bonita or mackerel.  (What's a Bonita anyway?..Ha ha)  There are lots of really big cats in LP. mostly Channels, but I've seen Blues too and one small Flathead.  Guess a striper would bite on a mackerel chunk too.

Hmmm... I guess a trip back to Perris might be worth it now.

Bonita are a pelagic fish that are in the same family as tuna. They can be caught inshore when around.
