New species on the Fools Bait...5/16

I was able to get an invite aboard my neighbors boat to fish on Friday 5/17.  Our plan was to hit the kelp beds off of Palos Verdes first and that we did.  We arrived to the grounds and lifted the motor up and dropped the trolling motor.  We fished the kelp for about 2 hours and could not get a fish to bite.  We did see 1 huge calico boil, but no takers.

We then tried a few spots in the back bay of the port of Long Beach for spotties, but not takers for me.  My buddy caught a few short calico bass there.

We then decided to fish right by the Carnival cruise boat/Queen Mary and I caught 3 fish back to back.  1 halibut

Then I caught 2 large jack smelt

I managed to catch another halibut with the smokin shad color, but tossed it back before I took a picture.  

The total was 4 fish, which was a  very slow day, but I still caught fish.  My fish were caught on the ghost shrimp color and smokin shad.

Put some time in bra. The fishes will pay you for this day.. Kinda a night bite right now.

I too will fish tomorrow morning knowing it will be shitty. Why? Because floating in my inflatable lazyboy gives me strange super human powers. Hopefully I'll catch nothing. Nothing to me is more quality fish for you. That is sharing and being a good angler.

Whoa, what's up with the poor fishing? I had a kick ass day today but that's probably because I was fishing the incoming tide.

Moon phase thang. Yeah I'm sitting looking at the low low right now. Hmmm gonna launch at 9. Incoming tide is a good call. Not too big of a change though. Gonna go get some pancakes in Pedro.. Ninja need yummies before the looming skunk.
