OK guys I have been working on getting involved with the La Habra Youth Camp. Well it is almost completed at this point so I am first asking for a few volunteers to help out with this event. The dates are still being worked on but for now it is the last week of July 21st through the 25th one of these days just not sure as of yet. Also it is planned to be held at Ralph B. Clark Park I believe in Fullerton. They will reserve the amphitheater for us that day so we can talk to the kids before we head out to the lake. We can talk about basic fishing rules and help them understand all that is needed to have a successful fishing day (If you have any ideas in this please let me know what you think). We will have the lake stocked with catfish the day before so the chance of catch a fish will be good for everyone. I assume we will close with lunch and I am hoping a few prizes for the kids.
The one other issue is a rod and reel for each kids to have for themselves after the leave. So Classic Accessories has decided to help out by donating a float tube to us to raffle off to raise some money to purchase the rods and reels for each kid. There should be 25 to 30 so we will need to get that many rod reel combos for all of them including tackle and bait. I will be raffling this float tube off here on our forum but to help raise the money I think I am also going to have this listed on Instagram as well. I will be sure to post a picture of the basic tube we are raffling off from Classic Accessories soon, I hope to have this finished and pick winner by the first week of July.
Let me know if you would be willing to volunteer and what you generally think of this idea, it is going to happen but what do you guys think.

I'd buy one for sure it's for a good cause like the saying goes "Buy someone a fish feed them for a day but teach someone to fish feed them for a lifetime."

OK guys I have a date and am finalizing this event. It will be help the 29th of July, at Ralph B. Clark park in Fullerton off of Rosecrans east of Beach Blvd. This will be a morning event and will go for 3 hours. The City of La Habra will be bring us 10 to 15 kids ranging in ages from 9 to 12. We are going to basically talk to them about fishing, keeping the water and the parks clean and why we practice catch and release.
The Orange County parks department has reserved the amphitheater for us to start out the day. with the donations we go from our members I am going to buy some basic rod setups to give to each kid, as well as to take home. We will be required to start out the morning be there with them to aid in tying hooks baiting hooks and helping unhook the fish when they are caught. We will not be fishing at least until the kids are gone. At the end we will just need to help clean up the area we used before we leave. I will plan this out a little better, but for now I need 3 maybe 4 volunteers. I know this is a Tuesday but can any of you guys in the area take a day off maybe even half a day and help out with this event. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Casting Call and GT that is so great of both of you. Time it will be morning I am thinking 8am but I still need to find out from La Habra. As for getting in I will say yes we are paying our own way but I will check on this as well to see if we can get in for free or maybe all get in for one entry fee. I will let you know once I have that info.

Hey Mike if you wont to come out that would be great I think we have enough guys for this one but I will not say you cannot come out and play with us. This will be at Ralph B. Clark Park The address is 8800 Rosecrans Ave, Buena Park, CA 90621

Looks like it will be at 9 am till Noon and we will be at the outdoor amphitheater I will try to be there at 8, 8:30 at the latest.

The plan is to introduce ourselves to the kids, talk about safety when fishing, to always keep our parks and waters clean (leave nothing behind) Finally we will discuss catch and release and why we do this.

We should bring a pair of pliers and maybe a hand towel to help the kids out, and I might ask for each person to bring a tube of millworms. I will let you know if this is need by this weekend.

Thanks everyone.

This will be a trial run so we are looking at about 10 to 15 kids, there is going to be a whole group there so they should have all food and water for the kids we don't need to worry about that. If this goes well we will be doing this again next year with many more kids but let get through this one first.  Thumbs Up

OK so I heard today that there was 200 lbs. of catfish stocked last Wednesday so I figured I would pick up some hotdogs for some bait. I have bobbers, hooks, weights, if you guys could pick up some millworms that would be very helpful. Just one pack should be fine, we will fish some kids for gills and the others for catfish see you guys there.
