I just seen a video for catfish bait..the man bowfished for carp then chopped them all up with a hatchet.
then he set up a trotline using the carp pieces.
And he got some monster cats

I have never seen that vidoe, hmmm interesting. I heard trout is great catfish bait but never tried it.
The best bait I've used and have out fished the locals at two different lakes is the bloodline from tuna fillets. I don't always fish for cats but when I do, I use 1" strips of tuna...tight lines my friends

Illegal as hell to use: Goldfish...hook a large goldfish (I'm talking palm sized) onto a sliding sinker rig and wait.

Halved bluegill also work.

Never knew that either.
well I heard carp work very well bcuz they r a very oily fish. N the oils help permeate the scent through the water.
Also I figure that being a freshwater type fish that catfish would feed on carp carcasses whenever the opportunity arose. Which would be considered part of their natural diet like worms.
but I could be wrong about that.

Most guys out at Irvine Lake like to use Mackerel because of the oil and smell. People using goldfish is why there are big goldfish swimming around Silverwood lake lol.
