Guys I want to add an article to the next issue in December. I am looking for an article talking about fishing artificial lures for trout in lake setting. I have fished for plenty of trout in my day but besides kastmasters and rooster tails, I have really only used bait. I know there are guys hear that are great Trout fisherman, so I am looking for either techniques for different baits or someone that want to either write an article. If you have never written before no worries, you can see by my writing we will take anything (LOL).
I have a friend that is editing so we can clean it up and if you just wont to send my your writing to have me help you dial it in we can also do that. Any help here would be great, also remember I will always be happy to add articles you send to me in fishing. So if you can help with this I would be grateful, thanks in advance.

Although trout is not my specialty i have had a lot of success on Trout Teasers ( crappie jigs), Trout Magnets & trout worms. I will be glad to contribute especially on the Trout Teasers i have caught many species of fish on this lure more then any other.

MY FAVORITE FISHING SEASON!!! TROUT!!!
I myself am primarily a trout fisherman althiugh u do fish other species.
n i primarily use lures now. I used powerbait on a carolina rig for till i was about 15..with some rooster tails.
but now i use spinners..FLATFISH. mini jigs. Rapalas. Artificial worms on drop shot.
Flatfish r one of my favorite lures. Partly bcuz of the natural patterns but mostly its the enticing way they swim.
But the Mepps and Kastmasters r some other amazing lure. Theres just so many that work great.

My favorite as well but I only fly fish. Right now it would be Chironomids.

I grew up trout fishing in the Rockies. My favorite lures are Rapala original floater in size 4 or lower, the Rapala countdown in size 5 or lower. I usually let the countdown sink to about 4'-5' then either reel fast n pause or just crank it in, I do the same with the original floater. My other favs are rooster tails or spoons colored in white n red, silver, or yellow n white. Trout really like breaks I'm the current, and if in a lake the same applies for bass fishing but in my experience they like to suspend in deeper parts more so. Hope this helps Jeff.

Some of my favorites. I change up retrieves from whats ordinary sometimes or like what is seen for [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], add a "stinger" (berkley trout worm, 1 1/2 inch piece) to one of the trebles, etc.

I also try to use something the fish have not seen, or at least not as often such as the custom hand tied fly jig ([You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]) spro phat fly in 1/16 oz. ([You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]) or pistol petes with a small split shot 12 inches up the line ([You must be registered and logged in to see this link.])

line size is paramount. 2lb. or 4lb most often Izorline XXX super co-polymer or maxima ultra green mono, sometimes a floro leader.

1. phenix leech, gamakatsu ball head, short [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
2. custom hand tied jig, Haggerty flies
3. spro phat fly. 1 1/16 oz.
4. minnow tail 1 1/2 inch
5. lip ripperz tube
6. yo-zuri pin minnow
7. ribbed minnow, brand not remebered
8. berkley flicker minnow
9. rapala orig. floater size 3
10. blue fox spinner minnow
11. panther martin with trout worm stinger
12. double blade thomas bouyant
13. powerbait trout tube
14. lip ripperz spoon
15. thomas bouyant cyclone
16. Mepps fly spinner, single hook
17. Joe's flies spinner
18. mepps black fury size 0
19. pistol petes
20. bass pro shops marabou jig

I just bookmarked this thread!

The weather is turning cooler and trout board comes alive!
Lots of great info guys thanks for sharing tips and the fish porn.

I discovered the Rapala CD will catch Large mouth, Small mouth, Bluegill, and the occasional trout.

I fish for trout, and no other species. They're not BAD species, I just like trout fishing. I've succeeded with trout and I enjoy the challenge, though I finally broke down and bought a sonar, Garmin striker4. I want to fish the winter tournament that starts at San Pablo Reservoir, in February and I'd like a decent showing.

Anybody ever fished that tournament? I've had success at SPR but it may be a zoo that day. I'll be in a rented boat, too damn cold to float-tube.
