SECRET SPOT 9/23/14

So I headed out with Augie for a 7pm launch kicking out to our spot we got a few short bites but nothing really stuck. I finally managed to get a nice sand bass and a few more short bites. So i know everybody has heard the story of the one that got away but I think my custom phenix m1 from Wiseguy tells the story it was a one piece (this rod held up pulling in yellow tail with no problems). I was throwing a 1oz leadhead with a 5" swimbait and got hit pretty hard and it was on. I was losing the battle so I started messing with my drag and SNAP two piece phenix rod I can only guess but I'm pretty sure it was either a big halibut or a big bat ray.  I was bummed out but kept at it and managed my PB sand bass at 16" so it kinda helped with the pain of breaking my rod.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

sorry about the rod buddy. for like $50 phenix should replace the blank for you.

Just a helpful tip, try lipping the bass instead of using the fish gripper, as you can see the gripper is doing more harm than good with that big O hole in its lower jaw area. Its only a Bass lol

man that sucks but at least it snapped on a fish. I snapped my phenix casting a popper YES casting a popper..lol.. nice bass tho..
