SARL catfishing tips

Anyone here familiar with SARL?

I'm planning to take my wife and kids out fishing for their first time on Friday 7/3 for catfish. We'll be fishing from shore so no tubing for me.

I've never fished this lake before so any tips on bait and location would be great. I've heard that on the big lake the bubble hole, la Palma point, and west shore are pretty good but don't know about any other locations or locations on Chris's pond.

Any help would be great. I'm trying to get them on the fish so their first experience would be a memorable one.

As far as shore fishing I would say hit one at a time till you find them. Not sure if you are familiar with what once was known as the 3pipes. well it that spot is great for cats. and as far as bait anything with a marshmallow to keep it off the bottom. the last time I hit SARL I was on my tube and just killed it with over 30 cats. The cats were nowhere near the bottom but then agene this was in the day time. If you ever want to hit it up on the tube or even with the fam hit me up. I think its time to take out the wife and two boys out there.

Hey thanks for the tip TWO2. I know where 3 pipes are but were you referring to the main lake or Chris's pond? Also I think the water levels are low so they may be exposed now.

Have you or anyone's been there lately? How's the water level?

Wyu yes three pipes are no longer there . They put one big pipe there now. And hit the big like side.

FYI
I just stopped by SARL as I was in the area. I don't know how old are your kids are but they have a little "pond" for the kids to fish from full of trout. There are peacocks and chickens running around, it was quiet cute. If your kids are small enough it looked pretty fun for them and moma.

Jerdon... Thanks for the info. My kids are 6 and 3.

I think we're going to test our luck and find a spot to set up a picnic area and throw some lines out. Just trying to find out a decent spot to set up for the whole day with a better chance of catching some catfish. It's mainly going going to be a hang with family picnic day and if we catch fish that'll be a bonus.
