A few weeks ago the spawn was in full swing.....fish were high in the water column and going nuts on certain hard baits. i landed at least 5 fish over with 1 VERY special fish that I may never be able to top. Set up was a Cousins 798hpt Raze Series, Currado 300 ej, with 65lb izorline and 40 lb fluorocarbon leader.
Kicked out around 6pm wanting to fish 2 hours into the high tide. 3rd casts hung a 5lber was feeling pumped had an excellent flurry of 10 or 12 very nice quality fish between 3-6lbs. i had enough after an hour (was also out of beer) decided to kick in, chucked another one tight and got smoked and I mean SMOKEDDD 1/2 a crank in. This was a serious fish called over my buddy we went tug o war for a minute or two until i was able to kick over the top of him and short pump him out. to make a long story longer we were in awe of this dino-bass. I've weighed and caught multiple GIANT calico bass and i can tell you this was on another level she went from tube to tube at 26-27" a few photos and she was released.....and yes i know you want to see the proof. i will happily email to someone to post my mac doesn't like the formatting for whatever reason.
