Float Tube Fishing Series Who Would Be Interested

Just wondering out loud who would be interested in seeing or getting involved in a Float Tube Fishing Series with points and standing.

I see a lot of potential.
Points beside LMB and Spotties?
BlueGill
Trout
Catfish
Crappie
Pike
Seasonal?
Monthly?
10 best fish of the Quarter?

Species of the month?

It has been talked about in the past and now I think it is time to setup and start laying plans. I am even thinking of take the idea of Saltwater VS Freshwater as a platform. The big goal would be to take this international not just U.S. There is a lot to think of but I think we have the foundation and just need the details. time to study on it.

A bi monthly competition gives everyone a fair shot, but quarterly is nice too, elect fishing days ahead of time and photo documentation of weight and length. No size minimums but point based system that is generated by length/x + weight/x. Gotta hash out the base equations first for all target species to keep things equal. We all know a 2lb gill is much more notable than a 2lb bass....and which leads to certain length handicaps...ie barracuda/pike/stripers. Because no matter what they say, length doesn't matter as much as...mass.

Ie bass points are as follows: length/3 + weight

Catch a largemouth of 13.5" and 2.1 lbs
13.5/3= 4.5 + 2.1 = 6.6pts

Just suggestion off the top of my head right now. I'm sure we can all hash it out and make it fun.

Edit: make it interesting: three species minimum to qualify so it forces people to branch out a bit.

Ya I would need help figuring this out, but the weight and length would matter most. There are some plans out there already, and I think we could still from there to get started. This is the idea of not reinventing the wheel I will get these plans and look them over. Please everyone start putting down your ideas so we can start hashing this out.

Big goal is to keep in fun but competitive and more important fair to all. I think we need to keep money out of it at least at the start and see how it goes over time.

Heck yeah! I'm all for it! This is the kind of thing we need to do a lot more of. Although you won't see this sort of thing out there in the fishing world, it's coming.

The fish management folks across the country have realized they were wrong about how to promote large Bass and large Bass populations. The system of records actually requires a fisherman to remove the Bass/other fish species and ultimately kill it in order to verify and record it. This is a bad thing in the big picture.

More and more we will start to see changes in the methods used for verification. Digital photography and the internet are the methods they are planning to use. What does this mean to us here at FTFF?

It means that tournaments and events can be conducted using the internet! Sound familiar to anyone here? FTFF is on the forefront of this new type of tournament/event. In my humble opinion we should be pushing and promoting the heck outta this type of thing here on the FTFF. Once it starts getting out there it'll snowball. Leading the way will benefit FTFF in many ways, especially sponsorship.

I agree with Jeff about not needing to reinvent how to run a series. It should be the same thing fishermen have been conducting for years. We're just gonna do it on the internet.

I find this thread of conversation very exciting guys! Lets get behind this. Jeff, feel free to task me with anything regarding this proposal. Because if I want to enjoy the fruit, I gotta volunteer to help prune the trees.

I'll do some research as well. I'll report my findings here later.

Sweet! Bigfish as we get going with this in time we will really be happy if we could get you more involved. This is going to be something that is going to take a team to run and help make successful.

I would like to be involved in this. It sounds like a good time and lots of fun .

Rider514 glad you are interested this is going to happen what will need from our member is promotion. The more we promote this the bigger it will become and the more exciting it will be for all. Plus we will have eyes on us and what we are doing growing this like crazy. It is an idea that i think is time to grow so hold on to you tubes boys its going to gey crazy.

The idea here guys is to build up our sport through competition and get the world involved over time. We have the platform to make this work we just need the excitment of the fishing community as well. We have this event and our hands and with support from the FTFF members and our current sponsors there is nothing that can stop us. I will be rolling out more details in the next few weeks as i cantinue to talk to sponsors and hash out plans for this idea. Please stay tuned any qiestions please ask and tight lines everyone.

I don t know anything about fishing tournaments but could we do species tournaments to even the board. Or am i getting this all mixed up

muktuk31 the idea is to make this as simple as possible. We will try to level the playing field the best we can. I hope if all works out right everyone will have and even chance at winning.
