So yesterday's fishing at Canyon Lake was nothing short of phenominal. Between my buddy and myself we landed somewhere between 25-30 fish averaging between 3-4lbs with with 3 fish over 4lbs. We also had a few 1-3lb. I think it's the best bass fishing I have ever had.
We got to canyon lake at 11pm Friday night. Water temp is estimated at 70-72 degrees. We started throwing big swimbaits from the bank but the fish weren't showing any interest. So we decided to Hit the tubes at 1AM. We worked the docks throwing worms and other soft plastics and it was relatively slow with a few scattered fish throughout the morning. We exited at around 8:30AM and I saw something I had never seen before Bass fishing. As we approached the shore we noticed anywhere from 15-20 LMB between 2-6lbs schooled up chasing bluegill out of the Algae. I swear it looked like a school of Tuna chasing sardines. I immediately went and grabbed my swimbait rod and threw my ganteral Jr. And got a nice fish to bite but only got to fight for a quick second before the hook pulled. Amazing site to see none the less. It was apparent that the fish were schooled up like this all over the lake.
We fished another park and the same thing and landed quite a few fish as they were chasing shad. We located a lot of fish in the middle of the channel or off the end of the docks in deeper water probably trying to stay cool from the hot sun.
We headed over to east bay after that and decided we wanted to do some exploring in waters we've never been to before and it payed off. We Found a school of Bass on a point that wanted to play and you pretty much know the story from there. We got out at about 3:45pm on saturday. lol. We're very sick individuals.
Majority of my fish were caught on the Ned rig. That bait was absolutely lethal yesterday. If you haven't tried the Ned rig yet I highly recommend doing so. my buddy was fishing a green finesse worm.
Here's 2 of my larger fish I caught yesterday. These were 4.5lbs and 4.4lbs.
