It's been over a year since I have us d the float tube. I am looking to get out there tomorrow afternoon and paddle around. Where is everyone going these days? I will be leaving from Irvine around noon. Thank You ahead of time for the suggestion.

Newport is always a great trip idea, if you are up to saltwater fishing.

Newport Harbor is very close to you.

I use 8lb Izor XXX line on a 5-10 lb stix, 3"-4" Spotty Specials w/ Big Hammers w/ 3/6oz - 1/4oz Hammerheads, this is a very good starting point and you should catch fish.
Check your line ... it may be old and need replacing and also check your hook and sinker situation in your tackle box.
It wouldn't hurt to lube your reel if it's been a year.

Keep following the FTFF site, a lot of good Intel here.

Go onto Google Earth and look up the USCG Station on Bayside Dr. in Newport.
They have a very nice beach to launch from with lots of parking.

I was a bit thrown off by your title .... "fresh water float tubing" and your asking us about salt water harbors. Good luck out there tomorrow!  Thumbs Up I hope to be reading a fantastic fish report about your harbor fishing session.

I would love info on freshwater. Jeffcpr mentioned Newport harbor. So naturally the thread topic has changed. I appreciate all the information.
