I fish the tide going out. I took out my fly fishing out fit and used my 7 wt. My fly of choice was the socal crazy dad and the liberace clouser. This is my second time out and sometimes i cant get the float tube to stop moving. All in all a great day and I caught a bass trifecta. Spotted bay, sand and calico bass. Only landed four and missed one. Hopefully as I master float tubing the catch numbers can go up.

Tight Lines to all

Congrat's on an enjoyable birthday session.

For some unknown crazy reason ... I always feel a sense of accomplishment when I land the third Bass

... on your accomplishments as well Sir! WTG! Thumbs Up

Were the winds favorable for you?

Glad you got out and glad you landed a few. I am sure as you get more time on the tube you will do better. Happy belated B-Day and keep up the great work.

The winds werent that bad. I was surprise how calm and lonely the bay was. I struggled casting into tight spaces since Im false casting. I always get paranoid thinking that Im going to hit a boat. Next time Im taking my bait caster so I can flip and pitch. I didnt realize I hit the trifect till I was leaving. Then I was like wowthat was pretty awesome. Added two more speices to my fly fishing list.

Thank you, I can't wait to get out there again and fish it. I just struggle with getting the float tube to sit still lol. I ended timing my cast as I'm drifting away.

Congratz on the trifecta and getting in the water.
The tube is always moving a bit,but after a while you will learn to predict which way it is going to drift or move. The tube reacts to arm motion as well as your fins so fly fishing has more of an effect than spinning or casting.

Thanks for sharing.

Ya I was going to say the same holding still in the Harbor is not easy. The game is learning to read the current and predict where you will be for the cast. I know a lot of guys that simple drag there line as they drift in the harbor. The other idea is to point into the current and kick to hold your spot this is tough though. The more time on the water the better you will get and if you are catching while you are learning that is icing on the cake.

Well done! You've caught fish there every time! Also, your ability to control and position your tube will improve as you spend more time on the water and your fin control becomes better and more automatic.

Even still, if you tube the salt, there will always be wind and tide challenges and dealing with them is all part of the fun!

Would you say tubing in the salt will better prepare me for tubing in general than if I started tubing in Salt water

Saltwater is a totally different beast, but I guess if you can handle the currents in the salt you will be good no matter where you tube.
