Cajun red line, 6 to 12 lbs. I like be cause it is cheap and most importantly no memorie. It lie's flat on the surface with little chance of getting all twisted up after sitting on the spool for a while.

I use Daiwa Samuri Line on most of my gear. Best braid on the market but real pricey!!!

I use 15# on my spinning gear:
15lb is equiv to 2.5lb mono with a sort floro leader something like 4lb.

On the casting gear:
20lb is equive to 4lb
or
40lb which is equiv to 8lb
All have a topshot of leader.

If you guys spool up with braid and use a topshop you will save $$$ in the long run.

I pretty much do not use spinning gear anymore so I will not include that.

Orra Inshore - Tipple X 6# mono and I will use a very long 4# fluro Vanish leader if I need to. I also throw cranks and spinners with this reel and the mono works nicely for that.

Revo Inshore - 30# Izor with a fluro top shot of Vanish 6# or heavier depending on what I intend to fish for.

These are my reels of choice and what I usually will have with me on any given day.

Revo Winch has 300yds Izor and I will top shot with a fluro of choice at the time usually if the situation is going to call for it.

My other baitcasters have a braid backer of Power Pro or Izor and fluro top shot but thess are freshwater poles and honestly I don't remember exactly what #'s they are but I doubt anything over 20 or 30 in the braid and nothing over 6# in the leader. I don't fish fresh near as much as I do salt so I tend to forget.

My bigger gear is set up mostly with mono and I like the Tipple X smoke color.
These are a couple of larger level winds and conventional s and they do better with the mono line.

I like to use mono if I am throwing cranks and spinners because I like the stretch effect.

I like the value of backing my reels and using a top shot. However I do switch out my leaders as I see fit while fishing. I keep an empty leader spool or two in the bag so I can salvage my leader if I am going to switch it up. I have also learned I can not back just any reel with braid because it can change the performance of the spool and its longevity.

My Penn reels are older and I have recently learned it would not be good for me to back with braid. So I don't.

I have fished with the Yozuri hi bred line and I like it too. I have that on my Okuma on an inshore rod. Its pretty good stuff but its one of those love it or hate it lines.

Anyway that's how I roll.

40lb power pro braid and 12lb power pro braid both in green for my spinning reels. i use 12lb trilene on my baitcaster. 60lb braid on my surf rod. dont use a top shot but will use a mono or fluoro leader line if i'm not too lazy.

It is important to rinse and clean your reel after each use and dry thoroughly to avoid spots.
