Just wondering if there are any other Michiganders on here?   I'm looking to hit up a few lakes and rivers in SE Michigan this year.

Hey there Jeff.. I'm doing well thanks.  I didn't get out on the water much last season due to work.  Things have changed for the better this year and I'm planning on getting back out there again.  The weather here in Michigan is finally starting to warm up and it's giving me the bug to start ripping lips again.   How are you and the float tube family doing??

Dex, This is about my first post here. I bought my Cumberland last summer and have been out in it only 2-3 times. I am over 70 and found the finning around kind of difficult and restrictive as the wind was wrong and strong all times out. So this winter I watched some UTubes showing electric trolling motors installed on float tubes. I bought a used 24 lb thrust motor and modified and strengthened my DIY rod holders and added a battery box supports and front transom to my tube. I then cut a hunk off my thumb on a table saw 2 months ago the week before I finished my mods so I haven't been on the water with it yet. I hope to fix this in a week or so. We are traveling visiting kids, GKids and GGKids. We will be in MI this summer July-August in Whitehall. Passing through your area on our way in mid-July.

I was surprised I could not find many threads where small electric motors have been added. I would like to hear fro anyone who has experimented with this to hear what they learned now that I spent the money and work on mine.

I live in sw Michigan. I'm fairly new too float tubing. I have a pontoon that I'm going to sell. I also have a kayak and my tube. I have a question that I would like answered, when out fishing in your tube, what do you do when nature calls?

It varies depending on what is available.
I can kick to shore and find the Port-A-Potty
I can kick to shore and find a bush or tree to water.
I can kick to the shallows and stand next to the tube and raise the lake level.
I can stay far away from the shore and use the "ARC" method.

I hope this helps

Condom cath is an idea LOL. I try not to drink the morning of so I don't have hit the head. If there is a restroom at the launch spot I try to go before I go.

Thanks everybody. I understand the kicking to shore, raising lake levels, porta potties, and everything else. The problem comes with age. I'm 66 and I don't care how many times you go in the morning, nature still has a way of calling you, if a condom cath exists where do you find them?
