We put in a semi-long session with GT today, thanks for the great time Brotha!!
I was honored to have fished in the shadow of this well seasoned FT angler ... and I'd do it again ... anytime!!

Gray light: 0450 hrs
Miles Kicked On FT: 2.08 miles
Calories Burnt: Approx 730 if we had been walking so I'm going to guess approx 1,000+ calories burnt today.
Swell: SSW
Air Temp: 62 deg to 71 deg, cloudy cool sky's w/ a marine layer that burnt off at 0830 hrs with full sunshine at 0900 hrs..
Water Temp: 66 - 68 deg
Session Duration: 0500 hrs until 1200 hrs (7 hrs).
Sun Rise: 0541 Hrs, Sun Set: 2005 hrs. The days are still getting longer folks!
Moon Phase: 1st Quater
Wind: 0600 hrs 3-mph off shore, 1200 hrs 8.5-mph SW onshore
CE: 64 in the morning, average
Bait Presence: massive amounts of bait and bait balls in the water every where, many predators large fish were jumping as much as 2 ft out of the suds.
Sea Dog Presence: just one nosy juvenile in the mud flats

Sea Bird Presence: just a few diving birds and just one picky eater walking around the edge of the suds dining.

Glad you both did well. That's probably the puppy I saw in the flats last time I was there 3 weeks ago.... lil stinker!

GT was using only 1/4 ounce HUBs , were you tossing lures that light as well Dan?

Thanks Dan..........ya it was a good day to be on the water. All of my catch were spotties as Dan mentioned. My best was a 12 inches. HH produces larger spotties out on the flats, fish that measure in the 14 to 17 inch range. They are real fighters on medium light gear. But not this day........

BTW, fishing with a true Veteran, both service and fishing, Dan has some great techniques that one can appreciate. Like his sling shot of the HUB's between docks and boats. He can put his bait wherever he wants with accuracy. His secret he tells me is in the rod he uses. Its something to watch. Maybe one day I will be able to "sling shot".............GT

I'm not up on the abbreviation?  What are HUBs?  from the pics they look like a tube or stick type bait?
Where did you guys launch from?

Fishbones805...........805 good brew........HUB...Hook Up Baits  Launched from the Pay Launch/boat launch, Huntington Harbor....$12 for 24 hours. They have clean restrooms and concrete ramps, makes for easy launch. Dan and I will be on the water 8 to 10 hours, 0530 to 13, 1400 hours. A no brainer in my book.  Welcome aboard.............GT

I am interested to hear the different species you get off the sand, ie sandies and halis, rays...........GT
