Hey all,

Was curious what you guys prefer to use for landing nets on your Float tubes... anyone like the telescoping handle ones? Or are the regular plain old trout nets (same they use for fly fishing) the best? I saw this, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] but wonder if a longer or extendable handle is better for the reach, etc.

Not looking for anything super fancy - just something that will hold up and not cause tail rot. Maybe this? [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
(although, my friend has a net that I think is like this and I really don't like the folding part of the frame that collapses - it's way to flimsy and if you try to land a bigger fish it's a pain to work with)

I'm certain that O Bob will be chiming in on this one soon.
He uses a real nice fish friendly net. I've seen it once in one of his videos.

I personally don't find it necessary to use a net.
I have a Bogga-Grip for when the fish are too large, too spinney (such as a Sculpin) or just too toothy (such as a Halibut over 25") for me to safely land and or control on my lap tray in order to document their measurements and to take their photos before their immediate release.
(all of this is accomplished in less than 25 seconds).

Just my 2-cents!  Cool

Mine is a collapsible head version that is pretty small. I just got it and I love it. A touch too deep but it has the rubber coating to protect the fish but stores nice and neat

As a fresh water tuber I use a large trout style net with the rubber that is suppose to be easier on the fish. Some bass are easier to lip than others so it really just depends on the fight.

I use the fish friendly, square opening, no extended handle. Net is replaceable if it gets ripped. I only use it on fish that I know are PB's. Make sure you use a lanyard easy to lose overboard, I know from experience.

Both of the nets you linked to have a soft mesh with no knots, so they would be fine. Because I don't use a tray or the stripping apron on my tube, I don't have to reach over anything to get to the fish, so I don't need a long handle.

My observation is that "landing" fish is one of those things that's dicey by nature, and so everyone finds their own way of dealing with it. You have to find your own comfort zone.
