I always like to take a few minutes before each session to calm my thoughts and to remember to give thanks, for being so BLESSED for having such good health and for this opportunity of being here today ... enjoying the water, all of it's abundance and to take-in the breath taking sunrise of each morning's session .... amen!

Summary Of Session: There were plenty of fish present.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Nothing but short bites, pulls and tugs for the first 2-hrs 20-minutes. I threw, jerked, popped and dragged HUB's, Yamamoto hollow Ika tubes, 3/16 Chartreuse Hammer heads w/ 3" Big Hammers (Sexy Shad & Margarita), D/S w/ 4" Gulp Watermelon Minnow for absolutely NADA!

I was already putting together in my head a ... "How I Got Skunked At NPH" report when by my surprise the bite just suddenly turned on! YAHOO!!
At 08:20 hrs my "skunk buster" was on board!
The bite remained strong until about 10:45 hrs when it just shut-off just as fast and sudden as it had began!

It was a beautiful day and the draining tide was more like a strong out going (flowing) river. I got to fish some new real-estate, which I enjoyed a lot because it presents a new and unknown challenge for me to step up to! lol

Tackle Used: 1/4oz Sardine Green/Silver, White Shad and the 3/8oz Mint colored HUB's, Yamamoto hollow Ika tubes, 3/16 Chartreuse Hammer heads w/ 3" Big Hammer (Sexy Shad & Margarita), D/S w/ 4" Gulp Watermelon Minnow.

SP Dan's fish count this morning: 16-fish today, 2-species and ZERO legals to report today.

(14) short Spotty's, best 13"
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
(2) short Halibut, best 16 3/4"
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Note: All legals shown, but just one pic of each species landed if short and all fish were quickly CPR'd.

PLEASE .... always be completely respectful to the boat owners and their property ... their boats.

PLEASE ... always leave it cleaner than you found it!
So please grab a hand-full and Pitch-In!!

Thank you for taking the time to check out today's fish report!

Tight lines!

SP Dan     <"))><

Nice! I really need to get out there some time! Have you launched from the Harbor Patrol beach before? Is parking and location pretty easy as long as you get there early enough? I'm assuming 4-5am is plenty early but you never know on a Saturday either...

I’m really not certain about where the harbor patrol beach is located but I have launched at the Coast Guard station and they don’t allow parking there until 6 AM.

Perhaps somebody else out there can chime in if you know where the Harbor Patrol Beach is located?!

I think we might be talking about the same place!

I believe both the Coast Guard and Harbor Patrol are located next to each other.

Anyone know if the lot there open to public parking or is it all street parking? And also if it costs to park?

Limited free parking under the trees of the driveway leading into the coastguard station.

Oh thanks guys - so I'm assuming it's the small parking lot closest to the beach/water access? Does it usually fill up right at 6am?

The lot you are talking about is for sheriff/coast guard only. The spots that are for beach access are all under the trees. Zoom in and you can see them. 6am to sundown I believe for parking.

Thanks for the clarifying. I see it now.

It depends. Summertime, yes. I have launched about 3 times from there in the last 3 months. 2 other kayakers was the most that showed. But usually you're safe right at 6am.

I arrived at the USCG parking lot at 5:40AM; for the toy drive at HH in 2018, and was chased out by the Sheriff.
Their Sheriff office is right there facing the parking lot.
Sometimes ... you can get lucky parking there earlier than 6:00 AM.

Thank you for the replies to my fish report,

SP Dan     <"))><

It is funny how the fish will just peck at your lures at times, and then as is an alarm clock went off they devour their favorite color.

Thanks for sharing.

Sorry Dan I thought you meant the Back Bay on the other side of Pacific Coast Highway I've done pretty good back there there's a dirt parking lot next to the rowing Center it's all free anytime you want to lunch it's best to go in there when the tide is coming in. salute

Thanks for the tip! I have been wanting to hit up that part of the bay (legal area) and was looking for spots to launch. Do you know by chance the hours for this parking spot? Or if they have limitations?

I’ll have to give that location a try!
Thanks Logan for mentioning it and thanks Rick for clarifying it!
