A slow day for me.
05:30 hrs (low tide) until 12:00 hrs (Low High tide)
Mostly cloudy with blue holes peaking thru.
The wind started off this morn at 0-1 mph SE and by the time I stepped out of the 63 deg water it was blowing at 9-11 mph SSW with max gusts at 14 mph.

I used 15-lb Fluorocarbon leaders on 30-lb braid and was broken off twice and one hook snapped-off at a HUGE strike today.

I counted 20 fish photos
(1) Mackerel 11"
(2) YFC, best 10"
(1) Sculpin, "thorn" 15" legal
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
(4) Sandy's, best 14" legal

(2) Calico's, best 11 3/4"
(9) Spotty's, best 14", 15" legals

(1) Bonito 15 1/2" (new species on the FT)

That's all folk's!

It was really GREAT!
It fought hard for 3-minutes. It didn't give an inch!
It turned me 2 1/2 times completely around, in 360-degree turns.
It was an amazingly strong fish with long powerful drag ripping runs!

Honestly ... I didn't know  Shocked  what I had on the end of my line until I saw it. And even then ... I couldn't believe it!

Used to catch lots of hard-fighting bonito in King Harbor back in the 80s.
I miss those days....

We used to fly fish for Bonita in the San Gabriel River near Westminster Blvd bridge. Lots of them and big Needlefish too!

Nice day Dan and thanks for sharing.
Bonita are great fighters for their size and that Sculpin was plenty big.

Is it Bonita or bonito? Not important—-just curious...

I guess that is a "SLOW" day on the water for you. I bet the Bonito put a good fight.

I was wondering if you were able to determine if the fish was a female (hence Bonita).
