Hey guys!

To lght: No tubing at Casitas. Boy if there was I would be there everyday! Lake Casitas is in my opinion, one of the premiere fisheries in the State! A world famous Large Mouth Bass fishery, a secret year round trout fishery that rivals DVL, THE best panfish population I have ever seen, and apparently full of trophy carp!
To dano67: I am still studying the carp fly thing. There seems to be two trains of thought when it comes to carp fly patterns. Either you are imitating large larval insects, and or crustaceans, or some weird plant life that randomly presents itself. EG: popcorn flys, (very popular on the Colorado River) cottenwood seed flys, (the Delta) or crawfish flys, and dragonfly nymphs. Still studying.
To Tubinferbass: I have caught carp on the fly by accident and let me tell you I understand Why these guys get so excited about hooking one. I hooked one at Irvine, that took me into my backing so fast I had to turn around and back pedal, full tilt boogie, or lose a brand new $95. fly line! ( fish was over twenty, I guarantee, but busted me at color).

Anyway,...
Tomorrow is recon, I go to, watch, listen and learn.

30+ years ago we used to fish for carp at Puddingstone. We'd use corn flakes mixed with a little lake water. It makes a hard putty that sticks to the hook..

Hold on buddy, these big fish can fight Smile

is carp good eatting? in lake elsenoir some dude made tortilla dough mix with honey or penut butter and they cought alot. I was just at casitas recently and is confirmed. no tubes, dinghies, inflatable kayaks or anything is collapsable. And if you have a non-collapsable vessel, is gotta be quarentine for 10 days prior to launch there. (no water contact, they put a seal on it)

They charge $150 a day for a tournament style boat, they also deliver. Just looked it up. Not bad if you have the extra coin to burn, I'll stick to my hot rod float tube. Haha

Yeah but say you get 3 guys to pitch in that's only $50 per person so not bad of a deal. And it would WAY better than any lake rental

$50 for a day of bass fishing on a boat isn't bad. I mean if you rent a boat you get a crappie little dingy.

Do they also pick up the boat and include gas?

If anyone wants to plan a trip count me in!
