Hit up Huntington Harbor this evening as a last min thing for few hours. Hit the water at approx 5:45pm and off the around 8:30ish. Water is clearing up nicely and not much red tide. Had several hits, landed 3 small ones, all around 10-11", nothing legal. I kick across the main channel and at the 2nd dock I cast between the boat and dock I got f*@k ROCK. Good head shakes and peeled off 8lb test to right under the boat with the drag about 80% button down to bust me off Mad . I havent been rocked like this from inside of the bay in along time. I'll be back for him in few days and this time hes coming out one way or another Twisted Evil

Sorry no pix this evening as my 3 fish that I landed was not photo worthy.

Wow, I have been thinking about upgrading my cheap 6lb pline to something a bit heavier. I personally haven't loss a fish due to broken line, but it seems like some of the fish can get pretty big.

If I did upgrade to something heavier would it decrease my chances at landing more fish? I was thinking 20lb braid or co-polymer with a 12lb flouro leader.

LGHT I have not fished braid yet but it sounds like a good idea if you are looking to ungrade for line strenght. I like the idea of a lighter leader attached to the braid I am sure you will hear more about this soon. I think there is a post about this already, I will see if I can find it for you.

I fish braid love the stuff! You feel everything even when the fish just looks at you bait! Lol I use on my curado 30# braid and 15# Flouro by seaguar invizX,
Works great! Yes it's heavier but I still catch fish and they never brake off.

Yeah I never used braid until I started freshwater fishing and after reading a great article on tackle tour [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I switched over my inshore salt water lines to 40lb suffix after reading the article also. I love how I can almost saw through the thickest kelp stalks without loosing gear. I think i'm going to go with the 20lb braid and 12 leader and see how that works.

Yup, braid cuts through kelp. Also cuts fingers, I use that band aid tape for my fingers so they don't get cut.
